Casablanca, Morocco, Capital Markets in Africa — The Moroccan benchmark stock index (measured as MASI Index) slumped by 0.34 percent to close at 9,179.31 points (with a year-to-date performance to -4.58 percent) with total market capitalization at MAD 461.660 billion (a drop of MAD 1.4 billion or US$141 million relative to previous market capitalization of MAD 463.101). The market activity measured as total traded value was recorded at MAD 132.624 million relatively to the previous total traded value of MAD 364.575 million.
The Moroccan most active share index (MADEX) closed at 7,482.53 points (dropped 0.38 percent compared to the previous trading session). FTSE CSE Morocco 15 Index plunged by 0.29 percent to close at 7,817.83 points (-11.37 percent year-to-date performance) and FTSE CSE Morocco All-Liquid Index dropped 0.34 percent to end at 7,688.09 points (to bring the year-to-date performance to -4.63 percent).
In term of sector indices, top gainers were Holding Companies, Chemicals, and Food Producers & Processors sector indices added 5.72 percent, 3.23 percent, and 0.79 percent respectively. On the laggards’ side, Utility sector index (sagged by 4.71 percent to close the year-to-date performance at 7.71 percent), Insurance sector index (lost 3.76 percent to end at -2.22 percent year-to-date return) and Real Estate sector index (fell by 1.52 percent to end at 10,404.95 levels).
Looking at the market price leaders and laggards, the gainers’ were DELTA HOLDING grew by 5.86 percent to end at MAD 25.30 and ALLIANCES gained 3.54 percent to settle at MAD 44.50. BMCI also added 3.51 percent or MAD 21.00 with a closing price of MAD 619.00 as well as SNEP jumped by 3.30 percent to end at MAD 104.95. MAGHREB OXYGENE also gained 2.95 percent to settle at MAD 108.10.
On the losers’ chart, JET CONTRACTORS and M2M Group dropped 6.00 percent (to settle at MAD 169.20) and sagged by 5.99 percent (to trade at MAD 243.15) respectively. LYDEC and DARI COUSPATE1 also declined by 4.71 percent (with a closing price of MAD 405.00) and dropped 3.95 percent (to settle at MAD 120.00) respectively. COLORADO fell by 3.90 percent to settle at MAD 74.00.
